DESCRIPTION
BULB:
ovoid.

LEAVES:
scattered, lanceolate, ~100 x 15 mm.

FLOWERS: solitary to
3 or more,
formed like a funnel with the tepals recurved. Tepals´descriptions range from clear white to cream-yellow
to yellow, with the basal 1/4 striped dark red and a large stripe at the midvein
anyway. Anthers green, pollen
brownish orange-red. Flowering time ~July. 2n=24(?).

Blüten:
einzeln bis 3 oder mehr, trichterförmig. Beschreibungen der Tepalen reichen von
weiss über creme-gelb bis gelb, das basale 1/4 jedenfalls dunkelrot
gestreift und einem markanten verlängerten Mittelstreifen. Antheren grün, Pollen bräunlich orange-rot. Blütezeit ~Juli.
2n=24(?).

Vietnam, Laos, China (Yunnan). Around 2000 m mostly on cliffs.

PECULIARITIES:
The
taxonomy of this plant seems to be not yet clear although described
already in 1934, but L. primulinum, L. nepalense,
L. majoense and L.
poilanei seem to be closely related.
Older
pictures in the net show typical white trumpet flowers like in Group 6b;
recent pictures, however, show plants with flowers resembling L. primulinum
with a dark red stripe along the midvein.

Besonderheiten:
Die genaue Taxonomie dieser Pflanze scheint noch nicht geklärt zu sein,
obwohl bereits 1934 beschrieben, jedenfalls sind aber L.
primulinum,
L. nepalense, L.
majoense und L. poilanei wohl
nahe verwandt. Ältere
Bilder im Netz zeigen meist eine Trompetenblüte wie aus Gruppe 6b;
jüngst aufgetauchte Bilder zeigen eine dagegen eine L. primulinum
ähnliche Blüte mit einem dunkelroten Mittelstreif. |

CULTURE NOTES: Most likely
similar as L. primulinum, most
probably not totally hardy, needing plenty of moisture during the growing period and dryness during
dormancy. |

KULTURHINWEISE: Wohl ähnlich
wie L. primulinum, wahrscheinlich
nicht sehr winterhart, ausreichend
Wasser während des Wachstums benötigend und wahrend der
Ruhezeit. |
