DESCRIPTION
BULB:
ovoid, ~5
cm in diameter; scales purple.

BESCHREIBUNG
Zwiebel:
rundlich, ~5 cm im Durchmesser; Schuppen purpurn.
|
|
STEM: 90-180 cm, wandering
underground producing bulbils.
|
|
Stängel:
90-180 cm, unterirdisch wandernd und Bulbillen bildend.
|
|
LEAVES:
scattered, linear, grass-like.
|
|
Blätter:
verteilt, linear, grasartig.
|
|
FLOWERS: solitary to 3,
horizontal, trumpet-shaped, 18-22 cm long, creamy white, suffused green towards
inner base. Nectaries green. Anthers and pollen bright orange. Seeds immediate
epigeal germination. Flowering time ~July.
2n=24.

Blüten:
einzeln bis 3, waagerecht, trompetenförmig, 18-22 cm lang, cremeweiss,
grünlich zur inneren Basis hin. Nektarien grün. Antheren und Pollen
hellorange. Samen sofortige oberirdischen Keimung. Blütezeit ~Juli. 2n=24.

ORIGIN: Himalaya-area (Nepal,
Sikkim, Bhutan, Assam), 1000-1500 m, limestone slopes in open coniferous forests.

Herkunft:
Himalaya-Gebiet (Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan, Assam), 1000-1500 m, offene
Koniferenwälder auf Lehmuntergrund.
|
|
CULTURE NOTES: Not winter-hardy, best grown
in a cool greenhouse. It is rather short lived and also suscpetible to virus,
but easily renewed by seeds and bulbils; seedlings may flower for the first time
8 months after sowing. In many respects similar to L.
formosanum.
|
|
KULTURHINWEISE: Nicht winterhart, wird
am besten in kühlem Gewächshaus gehalten. Kurzlebig, virusanfällig, aber leicht
vermehrbar durch Samen und Bulbillen; Sämlinge
können bereits nach 8 Monaten blühen. Im Prinzip wie L.
formosanum zu behandeln.
