DESCRIPTION

BULB: flattened globose, 1.5-3 cm in diameter; scales white to pale yellow, ovate to lanceolate, 15-20 x 6-12 mm.

BESCHREIBUNG

Zwiebel: abgeflacht rundlich, 1.5-3 cm im Durchmesser; Schuppen weiss bis blass-gelb, oval bis lanzettlich, 15-20 x 6-12 mm.

STEM: 20-100 cm, with white, short, stiff hairs.

Stängel: 20-100 cm, mit weissen, kurzen, steifen Haaren.

LEAVES: scattered, sessile, linear, 3-13 cm x 1-8 mm, 3-veined, margin papillous. Bracts linear, apically thickened.

Blätter: verteilt, sitzend, lanzettlich, 3-13 x 0.1-0.8 cm, 3-nervig, Rand papillös. Brakteen linear, apikal verdickt.

FLOWERS: solitary to 9 in a raceme, nodding, shiny texture. Tepals revolute, red or light red, nearly unspotted, oblanceolate-spatulate, 30-45 x 4-8 mm. Nectaries papillous. Filaments 20-25 mm long, anthers ~7 mm. Ovary cylindric, 10-20 x 1-3 mm; style shorter than or equaling ovary. Capsule narrowly oblong, 25-40 x 6-20 mm. Seeds immediate epigeal germination. Flowering time ~August. 2n=24.

Blüten: einzeln bis 9 in einer Rispe, nickend, schalenförmig, mit glänzender Textur. Tepalen zurückgebogen, rot oder hellrot, fast ungepunktet, spatelig, 30-45 x 4-8 mm; Nektarien papillös. Filamente 20-25 mm lang; Antheren ~7 mm. Ovar zylindrisch, 10-20 x 1-3 mm. Stylum kürzer oder gleichlang wie Ovar. Kapsel länglich oval, 25-40 x 6-20 mm. Samen sofortige oberirdische Keimung. Blütezeit ~August. 2n=24.

PECULIARITIES: L. callosum is the lily with the widest distribution area in Asia, however, not often found in cultivation.

BESONDERHEITEN: L. callosum hat das größte Verbreitungsgebiet in Asien, trotzdem selten in Kultur.

CULTURE NOTES: Very easy to establish given a humus rich soil with good drainage. Lime-tolerant.

KULTURHINWEISE: Leicht zu etablieren auf humusreichen Böden mit guter Drainage. Kalktolerant.
