DESCRIPTION
BULB: ovoid-globose, ~2.5

LEAVES:
scattered, linear
to lanceolate, 40-75 x 4-7 mm, sometimes papillous on margin and on midvein
abaxially; mostly glabrous but also white pubescent on both surfaces.

verteilt, linear bis lanzettlich, 40-75 x 4-7 mm, manchmal papillös am Rand und an
der Mittelvene unterseits; meist glatt, manchmal weiss flaumig auf beiden Seiten.

FLOWERS: 1-6, nodding or
horizontal, campanulate, scented. Tepals white, green, pink, yellow, or
purple, often with purple to red spots; outer
ones lanceolate, 65-83 x 14-18 mm; inner ones slightly wider; nectaries not
papillous. Stamens converging, filaments ~30 mm, anthers ~16 mm, brown;
pollen ~orange. Ovary 17-20 x
2-4 mm. Style 22-26 mm. Capsule oblong, ~35 x 25 mm. Seeds immediate epigeal
germination. Flowering time ~June-September.

Tepalen weiss, grün, rosa, gelb oder purpurn, mit oder ohne purpurnen oder
roten Punkten; äussere lanzettlich, 65-83 x 14-18 mm; innere etwas
breiter; Nektarien nicht papillös. Stamina zusammenneigend; Filamente ~30
mm; Antheren ~16 mm, braun; Pollen ~orange. Ovar 17-20 x
2-4 mm. Stylum 22-26 mm. Kapsel länglich oval, ~35 x 25 mm. Samen sofortige
oberirdische Keimung. Blütezeit Juni-September.

Sichuan, Yunnan), Nepal, Myanmar; in grassy Pinus forests, 1500-3800 m. First
collected form Shan Hills in Myanmar (1888).

Erstmals gesammelt an den Shan Hügeln in Myanmar (1888).

PECULIARITIES: A very complex and
phantastic but also difficult group of different varieties ranging from 20 cm
up to more than 1.5 m and including white, green, yellow, pink, spotted but also
unspotted specimens. Not often in cultivation, also no hybrids known.

|
BESONDERHEITEN: Sehr komplexe und
fantastische, aber auch schwierige Gruppe unterschiedlicher Varietäten,
zwischen 20 und 150 cm, mit weissen, gelben, grünen, rosa, gefleckten und
ungefleckten Blüten. Selten in Kultur; keine Hybriden bekannt.

CULTURE NOTES: The hardyness of the
different forms seems to be rather low, hardy clones and forms have to
be identified yet; however, humus rich soils in half shade seem to be
best. |

KULTURHINWEISE: Die Winterhärte
scheint insgesamt recht niedrig zu sein, gute Klone müssen erst
gefunden werden; jedenfalls scheint ein humoser halbschattiger Standort
am besten zu sein. |
